New Hampshire paystub law
New Hampshire RSA 275:49 requires employers to provide a wage statement to each employee with each pay period showing the wages paid and deductions. The New Hampshire Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Bureau enforces violations. Paydays must be at least weekly for most workers (one of the more frequent statutory paycheck cadences in the country) unless an alternative arrangement is approved by the Labor Commissioner. New Hampshire has no broad state income tax (only on interest/dividends, currently phasing out), so most stubs show only federal withholding + FICA.
New Hampshire's rental market — particularly Manchester, Nashua, and the southern tier commuting to Massachusetts — has tightened sharply due to MA workers relocating. Landlords typically require 3× rent gross + 30 days of stubs. The lack of state income tax means take-home looks relatively higher than on similar Massachusetts paystubs; landlords near the MA border are accustomed to comparing the two formats.
